Change in idea
After a group discussion, we decided that it would be difficult to go with the Christmas theme at this time of year and have decide to drop the theme. We also feel this will make it less cheesy and clique, and more classy.
The original decision to have it set at a party is what we have decided to go with it just will not be themed.

Typical teenage film genres
Typical teenage film genres
- Horror
- Comedy/Rom Com
- Chic Flicks
- Fantasy/Sci-Fi
These are known as the typical teen genres but are they really what teenagers want to see?
Our genre is more based at a female audience than a male, therefore we need to ask:
- Why the romantic genre is popular?
- What makes it popular?
- What is the favorite film of this genre?
- What do they think is the key part of this genre?
- How often do they go to the cinema?
- What other way do they watch films? DVDs? Downloads?
- What genre do they usually watch?
- If they aren't a fan of this genre why not?
- Why do you think it is a more popular genre with females?
- Do they watch British films?

Research in to Genre
Romantic films
The conventions of a romantic film are:
Based on a novel. A couple fall in love from very different backgrounds, the male comes from a poor background where as the female does not. They are separated by social difference but eventually end up together.
There are also films that dont abide by these coventions to create a twist in the story:
A couple who fall in love although it is frowned upon due to their social difference. They eventually end up together but when the titanic sinks the male dies therefore ruining the happily ever after convention.
The conventions of a romantic film are:
- Girl meets boy typically this is an accident
- Argument that splits the couple for them to later be reunited
- "Happily ever after" ending
- Symbols that relate to love (hearts, flowers, rings)
- Targeted at a female audience rather than a male audience
- Emotion renching (pain, love)
- Sometimes there is a struggle in choice i.e two men fighting for a female
- The Notebook - 2004
- The Vow- 2012
There are also films that dont abide by these coventions to create a twist in the story:
- Titanic -1997
